Colorful Thread

 About Me

Meet the quilter, Karen Lee Lee.   Thanks to my Mom, I grew up stitching crewelwork, needlepoint, knitting and sewing. I just had to create all the latest fashions and they all had to fit just so!   I grew up in a fabric store looking at all the thread and fabric colors while my Mom was busy shopping for her next sewing project. I believe that is when my passion for working with colors started.  Throughout all my years, I was always working on several projects at once.  I've made doll clothes, bridal dresses, men's and women's business suits, bathing suits and baby clothes too! My first quilt was a Pennsylvania Dutch patchwork applique quilt, made  out of heavy canvas duck cloth. I used heavy Army wool blankets for the batting. I remember having to use a pair of pliers to get the huge needle with thick carpet thread in and out.  My stitching was consistent but was at least a quarter inch long!  That quilt compared to a weighed blanket it was so heavy!

My oldest sister introduced me to long arm quilting about six years ago.  I was hand stitching my quilts back then and didn't like the amount of time that took. Quilting on my domestic machine was fine, but was very clunky and I didn't get the look I wanted.    I fell in love with long arm quilting when I went to the Pacific International Quilt Festival. It was life changing!   I had approximately two years left before I retired from corporate America and knew this would be how I would re-invent myself.  Going back to my true passion working with colors and textures with fabrics!

I feel a strong connection in preserving traditions of quilting because each one has its own back story. Families can share their stories and traditions as the years progress! I am firmly committed to providing personalized services and welcome any creative requests my customers may have!

I recently retired in order to quilt full-time.....finally following my dream!  I have my HQ long arm on a twelve foot frame and just can't make quilt tops fast enough to satisfy my craving to play! Therefore, I call all quilters to send me your tops so we can complete the journey for family traditions.  Thanks for visiting my website.
